Food Trip #5: Mang Jimmy's Sizzling Sisig

Wednesday, January 26, 2011 0 comments
Our first stop in our Sisig escapade, Mang Jimmy's located at UP balara. Some reviews told us that their sisig is one of the bests. So Marjorie and I went there at 12nn to eat lunch. I am really craving for sisig. Haha. I'm still on my twenty's, just eat moderately. Haha.

I was not able to take a picture of the inside of Mang Jimmy's place. But when i saw their parking lot, there a lot of cars outside their restaurant. I'm so amazed, a little restaurant can be so packed with many students of Miriam, Ateneo, and UP. I'm really excited about this.

So anyway we ordered, of course none other than their FAMOUS SIZZLING SISIG. I just love their sisig, their servings is good for two people already, and also their meat is cut in large unlike other sisig, their meat is cut into very small servings.

 (Sisig with Egg 110)

We also ordered their Porterhouse steak, i don't recommend this one, the meat is too hard to cut, i was not satisfied with the taste of the gravy, but still it's nice to try, and their servings is not too bad. It is good for 2 persons.

(Porterhouse steak 250)

I really want to recommend this place to you, a lot of actors/actresses already went here to enjoy their sizzling foods. The food is great, the waiters are very attentive. A nice place to go with your friends and family

Food Trip #4: Iceberg's

Tuesday, January 18, 2011 0 comments
Marjorie went to our house to watch some movies. So we watched The Little Fockers, and Easy A. After we watched, I told Marjorie that you should go to the office now, because her schedule is 1:15am (she's a Call Center agent).

About 11pm we left the house and arrived 11:15pm at Ortigas Discovery Suites, she works at TELUS International. Marjorie told me that it's still too early, so we decided to went grab a bite at Metrowalk.

So we decided to eat at Iceberg's since some of the restaurants are closed.

So we started off, trying their appetizer, their Buffalo Wings. When i tasted it. I kept on having a smiling face, and told Marjorie, I NEED A RICE! Haha. The taste of chili, sweet, and other spices. I just love this chicken. Also together with the chicken it has chips and a dip for it.

 (Buffalo Wings ₱198)

I ordered their Famous Sisig. I really love sisig, so for me it really taste good. It's not too oily, and perfect for it's combination of the raw egg, that is usually serve when they gave the sizzling plate. I also love the onions. Yummmmmmyy =)

  (Famous Sisig ₱188)

Then Marjorie ordered some Hungarian Carbonara. I told that she should just ordered Lasagna (i LOVE CHEESE) but she told NO! Oh well..anyway, I also loved the presentation of the Carbonara, but when i tasted it, i felt a bit disappointed. It taste bland, but there is still some unique taste but not that strong. I tasted the sausage, and I liked it.

Our other pictures, we just love taking pictures. =')

Well we should have ordered some of their best seller. Their halo halo, hope it taste good. Anyway some of the foods are great. Some are not. The price is too much expensive. Nice to try. =)

Food Trip #3: Cafe Via Mare

Sunday, January 9, 2011 0 comments
After daddy's checkup at St. Luke's Medical Center - Global City. We went to Cafe Via Mare just inside St. Luke's building on the ground floor.

When I looked at the menu...

When I saw the menu, I got a little bit disappointed with their price. For me that's too much. Anyway we ordered Puto Bumbong and Pansit Luglog.

I did not liked the taste of the Puto Bumbong together with the brown sugar and the niyog, well not that bad, but i had much higher expectations. That is because I LOVE PUTO BUNGBONG. The Puto Bungbong of Cainta is much better, i think it is because of the butter and the cheese.

(Puto Bungbong ₱66)

   (Pansit Luglog₱195)

The Pansit Luglog seems delicious, and when i tried it. It is! It has lots of toppings. It has a savory taste, it also has shrimp and some vegetables. What I did not like, again it's the price. Too much just for a pansit.

Marjorie and I went to McDonald's near Tiendesitas after her graveyard shift. I ordered Quarter Pounder with Cheese, and Marjorie choose Mc Chicken Sandwich.

While waiting for our order(just 5mins), Marjorie ordered Blue berry cheesecake(not sure). Taste good, not that exciting , but the presentation is nice.

A New Year, a New Life, and a New Beginnings..

Monday, January 3, 2011 0 comments

Oh well another year has ended, and our family celebrated New Year at home. What made me excited is, I am the one who prepared our meal for our media noche feast.

-o0o-
-o0o-

Well actually this was my fist time to grilled pork belly or in filipino inihaw na liempo, that i marinated, and put all the ingredients. Asked my Dad, Mom, and my siblings about the taste, texture and everything about the food. And the judgment (drum beat): They all told me, it was PERFECT, it is sweet, texture is very nice. Wow! A great achievement before 2010 ends. I named it Paul's inihaw na liempo. (lol)

How to Make the Marinade for Pork:
 Ingredients:
  1. Onions | Sibuyas (Chopped)
  2. Garlic | Bawang (Chopped)
  3. Ketchup
  4. Soy sauce | Toyo
  5. Vinegar | Suka
  6. Ground Pepper | Paminta
  7. Sprite | 7-up
  8. Chili Powder | Sili
  9. Brown sugar | Asukal na Pula
  10. Salt

Ingredients for the BBQ paste:
  1. Oil | Mantika
  2. Used Marinade
  3. Ketchup
  4. Barbeque sauce (optional)

  • Boil first the pork, so it would not be to hard. Use sprite or 7-up to boil the pork. Remember: don't boil the pork too long.
  • Just mix all the ingredients, taste them for your desirable taste. Put the pork along with the marinade in a tight sealed container.
  • For better taste it would be better if it would be marinated for 24hours.
  • And it's grilling time.
  • Use the BBQ paste while grilling the pork. Use a brush for tastier results.
  • Enjoy. :)

Leaving 2010 with no regrets. Leaving her with a smile on my face. Leaving her with a thankful heart saying: "I will not leave 2010 empty handed, i will be bringing the memories of her in 2011."
